Plot Area Calculator
Calculate the area of a land plot using its dimensions and convert the result into square meters, square feet, square yards, acres, hectares, and other land-measurement units. Choose the plot shape and enter your measurements to get an estimate.
Enter plot dimensions
How plot area is calculated
Triangle: area = base × perpendicular height ÷ 2
Circle: area = π × radius²
Example: rectangular land plot
A rectangular plot measuring 50 m by 30 m has an area of 1,500 m². This is 0.15 hectares or approximately 0.3707 acres.
Common land measurement conversions
- 1 hectare = 10,000 square meters.
- 1 acre = approximately 4,046.856 square meters.
- 1 square meter = approximately 10.7639 square feet.
- 1 square yard = 0.83612736 square meters.
Measuring an irregular plot
If a plot has an irregular boundary, divide it into manageable rectangles and triangles, calculate each section separately, and add their areas. Avoid overlapping sections. For official land registration, boundary disputes, or property transactions, use verified survey measurements and the applicable local land-area standard.
Traditional land units
Local land units such as kanal, marla, bigha, katha, and cent can vary by country and region. This calculator reports internationally defined metric and imperial units; check the local definition before converting to a regional land unit.
